Hi! I've been working with M&P but would really like to try my hand at CP.
Can anyone direct me to a good book for beginners?

Hi & Welcome. The Everything Soapmaking Book by, Alicia Grosso is good. There also are various videos on how to make CP soap on-line. Just google CP soapmaking and some should come up. Be sure to watch different ones, there are a variety.

The soapmakers Companion by Susan Miller Cavitch is another well respected publication.

Both the books mentioned are very good. You can also find some extensive instructions at www.millersoap.com.

I was looking on youtube just search for CP soap making. It's funny to see how each soap maker has their own technique, almost every video I saw they did things differently. I guess after you've been soaping for a while you just pick up your own way of doing things LOL.

looks like he's young & stupid Becca. The way he's sloushing that around in the buckets, once he get a splash in the eye, he'll think twice about precautions hopefully. :roll:

YouTube is a wealth of misinformation. There are lots of errors out there.

I went to the library and got all the soapmaking books I could. If you REALLY like one, you can always buy it later, but I find more helpful stuff online now anyway. This forum is awesome

Thank you everyone! I bought the Everything soapmaking off of amazon last night. I did go to my library a couple of weeks ago, but the two books they had didn't really go into much detail. Can't wait to get my new book and get learning!
