Teach Soap

Hello all-

Just read the great posts about soap scum, dove commericals and ph. Soapbuddy's ph scale post was really good.

I have another newbie question. I have very hard water and lye discount CP because I like extra-moisturizing.

Will hard water + superfatting make my cp soap harder to rinse off? I think so

Maybe i should superfat less, use higher % of oils w/higher cleansing properties or something like SLS. Think that the drying properties would be counter-productive. Not sure what to do. Still experimenting to find the right balanced recipe for me.

Really looking forward to trying beeswax in my soap. Think it would be a good addition.

I would suggest using distilled water instead. Or you could use Tetrasodium EDTA. It can counteract the defoaming action of hardness ions, reducing soap scum and improving lather.
