I made a swirly soap on April 7th.
Added 1.2 ounces Salty Mariner/Tea Tree blend to a 2lb batch of CPOP soap.

I am trying to figure out why this soap is starting to smell a bit rancid. It still has a great fragrance, lathers well and cleans well. But there is a feint smell of "old oil" in it.

Originally my suspicion was I superfatted too high or I added too little lye--mainly because my scale has an automatic turn off feature and I had to put the lye back into the container and measure again. Silly scale!
Lye calc data turned out good. Superfat was at 5%.

Only other concern I had when making this soap was that the soap began to separate when I added the other color.
Didn't know what to do then, so I gave up the hopes of having swirly and decided to just stir everything to make it mix well. Unfortunately when I cut the soap, there were many droplets of oil that seeped out. 24-hours after cutting, the droplets appeared to have reabsorbed.
So, in conclusion: Despite me having created a nice soap, with
some swirl, I really don't know what's going on.

Help?
