Ok, Im going to try to step out of my box and make some coffee soap. Up until now (8 months) I have made only fresh goats milk soap. I recently tried canned milk and use part milk part water. Would I be able to use say 18oz fresh brewed coffee(for the water portion) and 18 oz goats milk. Going for the kitchen soap bar to remove odors. Also do I need Benzoin?? All new to the coffee.
Next will be tea.

Use least amount of coffe liquid and mix in with your lye. MIx very well and when it starts coolling add your milk. In the beginning it will not have a pleasant smell, but that will dissipale as the soap cures.
If you decide to use Benzoin, be very careful as lot of people have allergies to it; myself included.

I was making the coffee soap--- goatsmilk with coffee grounds and Turkish Mocha fo---- I was marketing it as the kitchen soap for garlic and onion smells. Well guess what? All of my soaps take off garlic and onion smells!

I got the recipe out of a book called Handrafted Soap by Delores Boone. They only used the brewed coffee no milk so I wasn't sure if the two would mix well. Did you like the bars? Im going to try it with vanilla and almond and my own oil combination.

I love the bars. My family love the bars. I had to be carefull how much coffee grounds I put in as it got a bit rough as the bar was used down. It doesn't sell very well here though. I have noticed in general that customers tend to shy away from dark soaps.......even when they smell them and comment how good it smells. So, I 've just been making them for my family now and the occasional customer who asks for them.

You could try just using the coffee FO & not the brewed coffee for your liquid, just plain liquid and add some coffee grounds or just sprinkle the coffee ground in the bottom of the mold and then on top. You wouldn't get a dark colored soap then I wouldn't think.

My shipment comes tomorrow. I will let you know how it turns out. Does anyone else feel like all they do is place orders and wait for arrivals

Re. placing orders... I just gathered all the figures for our tax advisor. I was shocked at how much I'd spent on FOs and other supplies last year. WAY more than my profits! But, my husband was OK with it because we donate soap baskets to charity raffles and food pantries. And, we both get a lot of pleasure out of soaping!

Re. Delores Boone's book - I have that book too and has used many of the recipes (I use them to make CP batches). Everything has always come out nicely. But, a warning about the recipe using the green tea - I tried to color the batch with a light green mica but the green tea component had a mind of its own and the soap color is a bit funky looking. But, it is otherwise a great soap! Have you tried any of the recipes in the back of the book? Those are some of my favs!

I haven't tried any recipes in the book yet. I just received a couple of new oils I was out of today so tomorrow will be a soaping day. Between the kids naps. I look forward to the coffee and the chamomile soap. Ive never used chamomile f.o. because Ive always heard it stinks but I decided to give it a try anyway. I like the name, nice relaxing bath bar I guess.

one of my OHP soaps was a coffee spinoff. I will probably call these coffee cake bars.

I blended 2 parts Almond Biscotti and 1 part Fresh Baked Bread--both from BB's FO line.

The end result!? Well let's just say I'm having a hard enough time convincing myself it's not REAL coffee cake.

used espresso to color!
