If you are new to soapmaking, I would wait til you get a few good batches under your belt.
You can use any standard recipe, just sub the liquid for goat's milk.

Hi fran!

I've been making goatmilk soap for 3+ years--- I started with goat milk because I raise my own goats and wanted to find another use for all the milk I had in the freezer! I've been hooked on goatmilk soap ever since! Soapbuddy has so many more years of experience and is such a terrific source of help..... but don't be discouraged about making goatmilk soap. I have never made cp soap that wasn't with 100% goatmilk, no water. I do think you have to make small batches and be prepared to have a freezer spot available for the first 12-18 hours. Depending on the frangrance oil you use, your batch can heat up fast. Do a search on the web for recipes, you'll find a million. Read about the qualities of the oils/butters you want to add and come up with your own recipe--- that's what makes it special and fun. Good luck!

Knine, are you saying you don't insulate your goats milk soap. No gelling?

i put mine in the fridge too........or freezer depending on what else is in the recipe or the fragrance used.

I used to love making GM soap when I was in Ohio during the winter time.......I'd jsut set the mold out on the porch when it was cold out........saved my freezer space!

SpottedCat--- right--- I never gel--- well not intentionally! A few times a particular fragrance oil would heat up a batch so fast..... I used to let them set up a few hours before freezer time, now they just go in as soon as I can get them in there!

naturescaldron---you're exactly right--- that's the only time I don't mind Ohio winters! Our garage is a work shop for hubby so all his work benche/tables, chest freezer tops are loaded up with soap in the winter!

okay, so you don't insulate & you put your molds into the fridge/freezer right after pouring. Do you cover them with saran wrap? Thank you so much, I'm learning lots here. You leave them in there for 24 hrs?

No insulation, just a piece of wax paper for the top so it stays clean. Then into the fridge or the freezer it goes. I've left them there as long as overnight.
Let it come to room temp before you cut it. Easier that way.
