Teach Soap

Hello all-

I'm new to the cold process soap making. I started off with homemade molds that turned out pretty good soap. I've been making soap now for a few months and finally broke down and bought "real" plastic molds. The first batch of cold processed soap that I made was easily removed from the mold after putting it in the freezer for about 15 minutes.

This last batch of soap that I made will not come out of the molds!

Does anyone have any tips on how to remove the soap?

Can you leave it in the freezer overnight?
Was this recipe any different?

Any time I have run into an issue with a mold sticking, leaving it in the freezer for a few hours has always resolved the issue. If leaving it in overnight doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you

I have found that using random objects works much better than the actaul soap mold I have. It came with a MP kit and even with that it was hard to get out. I used CP once in it and thought I was going to have to break it to get the soap out. The PVC pipe was easier, silicone baking/ice molds are amazing! The stuff just pops right out of them! I haven't done wood yet but probably will in the next couple weeks.


As for the batch you are dealing with right now. Freeze it and then try to pop it out like you would an ice cube tray... gently flex the mold if possible (careful not to break it, would it matter that much if you did if it's going to be such a nightmare to use?! ) I also had some luck banging the frozen mold on the counter.

Would spraying a plastic mold with PAM, vaseline, or mineral oil first help prevent sticking?
