First MP

First CP - very plain, and no, that's not all of it

Second batch - salt bars. Are those dark spots supposed to be there? I don't mind the look of them but not sure if that's what is supposed to happen (this is after being in a warm oven for 2 hours)

Third batch is still in the molds and needs to be named.

On the salt bars what color did you use? Did it incorporate well?

Ya, I thought it was incorporated. I mixed the color and scent together (the color was powder) then mixed it to the soap after trace and mixed well then added the salt.

The dark spots wouldn't be lye pockets would they? Probably a silly question, but I'm nervous.

I do like that they kind of ended up looking like biscotti!

Congrats Jola! They look great! Look for my 1st & 2nd batch pics soon. I need hubby's help and he's on a project right now, but I will post as soon as I can. This is strickly a hobby for me. I hope I find enough family & friends for all this soap, it's addicting!

If the color was a powder, I bet that's what it is. You are better off mixing your color with water (if it's water soluble) or oil, if it's oil dispersible. I have had good luck mixing my colors with a small amount of glycerin as well.

Did you use FD&C colors, mica, oxide or ultramarine?

oh, so bad idea to mix powder color with the FO?

It was rose mica coloring.

Man, even after all the research I've done, which has been tons! This is still a trial and error kinda process for me!

I wouldn't mix the mix the mica with the FO. Try a little bit of glycerin next time. Mix it, then mix it again just before you are getting ready to use it.
