Hi All! Can someone please clarify for me whether a few small air bubbles in your soap means it is caustic & should be discarded? One of my books indicated this, but was a bit vague. I am new to soaping so am unsure. Thanx

Does it zap? That would be my first question...

Another thing....if you've used a stick blender and it wasn't always submerged, you COULD get just regular ole air bubbles...or if you poured at a thicker trace...

What temp were you soaping at?

Not necessarily, unless your lye was not completely dissolved. Most likely it is from
your stick blender.

A trick I learned years ago is to pour your soap over a spatula or large serving spoon
and this will break up any air bubbles.

I do a PH strip test on soaps that I think are "done". If that looks good I do a zap test just to be sure. If that's ok I wash my hands and/or shower with it.

If it passes all of those tests I wouldn't worry about any bubbles.

Definitely test it, like everyone is saying.
I had a batch with air bubbles but it was just because I poured it very thick and they got trapped in the soap.

You can tests for zap by wetting your finger, touching your wet finger to the soap, then lightly touch it to your tongue. If it zaps, it will feel like a slight zap from a 9 volt battery.
