Teach Soap

I would like to add yogurt to this recipe.
castor oil 2.5 oz.
coconut 0il 11.5 oz.
lard 13.5 oz.
olive oil 20 oz.
shea butter 2.5 oz
water 19 oz.
NaOH 6.847 oz
Super fat 7%
Can anyone tell me how much yogurt to add to this recipe and how to adjust the amount of water ? The yogurt is 10% fat Greek yogurt and it is very thick. Thank you for your help.

You can just take out part of your water and substitute it with the yogurt. Like if you have 6 oz of yogurt, you then use only 13 oz of water.

Dissolve your lye in minimum water required according to the lye calc, then add the rest as yogurt as soon as you mix your oils and lye.

.Thank you Jenny and Irena. I made my yogurt soap today. I substituted 8 oz of yogurt for 8 oz of water. Every thing went so smoothly. It is in the freezer now. I can't wait to see how this soap turns out. It is so great to be able to ask a question and get an answer so quickly.

Does anyone know if the probiotics survive if the soap goes in the freezer to keep it from getting hot and going through gel phase? I've looked online for info and cannot find anything. Thanks.

That makes sense to me. I've been using the whey from my yogurt as my liquid. I've been careful to add the lye very slowly so it won't get above 110 degrees and to not to let the loaf gel, but I realized that lye is probably pretty tough environment for probiotics to survive in. Not worrying about the heat will make my soapmaking more fun. But I do wish that I knew how to make the soap probiotic.

Do you know how soapmakers make these soaps that supposedly have probiotic benefits, for example:

Dr Ohhira's probiotic kampuku beauty bar

Candida freedom probiotic soap

Or do you think that this is false advertising?
