Hello, I am new to the forum. I am still trying to find the best recipe. I started adding some additives such as tussah silk and kaolin clay. Last weekend I made six batches with colloidal oatmeal. I am hoping that this will seal the deal and I can stop changing my recipe. I have made 120 different batches, each batch yields ten bars. I am hoping that the oatmeal will help with making a creamy bar.

Can someone please tell me their experience with this? Thanks

I get a creamy bar with 100% coconut oil with 20% superfat. You won't get many bubbles, but it's definitely creamy.

Hi PATCHEM,

Wow! 1200 bars of soap! I guessing this is going to be a commercial operation? I'm not sure about oatmeal making soap creamy. I have only tried using it once and the bars I stored got unpleasantly fungal after a while. perhaps I did something wrong. :(

Anyway, on the subject of coconut oil and creaminess, my experience is that it is good for bubbles rather than creamy lather. Perhaps that changes when you get to higher percentages but I've never gone over 25% with coconut oil in any batch to date.

Hope this helps a little. :)

cheers,

Grant
