Hello everybody.

I recently started with cold process soaping. Just finished couple of batches of cold process sops.
My first batch is now 3 weeks and just tried a tiny bit to wash my hands and face. But it started burning. Iam now perplexed if my soap is over loaded with lye.
I did a ph test using litmus paper. confused if the colour is indicating 10 or 12. very confusing and perplexed.

Please can somebody help. I did tongue test. it stings mildly. Please help....

What was your recipe? Did you run it through a lye calculator? How much did you superfat?

The link which you have posted in some other thread for a quality ph meter is expired. can you pls let me know where i can get a quality one..

How did you test your PH?

Dissolving some of the soap in water and use pH paper?

Just i need to test mine

The pH scale runs from 1 (extremely acid) thru 7 (neutral) to 14 (extremely alkali). So my guess is the 10 to 12 reading is way too alkali to put on your skin, check your measurements, I think you should end up around a pH of 7

Unless you are using a pH meter, the pH strips are not accurate. They will only give you a range, but not an actual reading.
