Teach Soap

I have been having trouble overheating my batches. I think my wooden molds were too thick and possibly holding too much heat. So I rebuilt them with 1/2in. walls instead of the previously 2 in. walls. I also think that I may have been overheating my goat milk by adding the lye to quickly. I was reading that some people will dilute water with lye and then add it to the slushy goats milk. Has anyone had luck with this method? For example if my recipe calls for 15oz goats milk - I could possibly use 7oz of water and dilute it with the lye (adding the lye to the water) and then adding that liquid to the remaining 8 oz of slushy goats milk soap.
Any thoughts?

Any wood is an insulator. You can try dissolving your lye in minimum water required by the soap calc, then add the rest of the liquid as room temp milk as soon as the oils and lye water are mixed but before trace.

Does the soap calculator consider goats milk in the calculations? I never noticed that as an option? I ended up making 2 batches with 2 different measurements of water - deducting from my total liquid. So I am crossing my fingers to see if there is any major difference in the formulation! I will let you know!
