Teach Soap

This is my first post on this site and I hope someone can help me. When using my loaf mold I want to get a totally straight horizontal edge between 2 colors of soap. When I fill half of my mold with my first color should I force gell to get it hard enough before I pour on my second color? The edge between the 2 colors is bumpy and uneven. I've seen beautiful straight horizontal edges on 2 or 3 layers of soap that people do and that's how I want my soap to look. Any help would be much appreciated.

Its more about trace then it is letting the soap go through gel phase first. There is a video here with layers, you can just skip the mica line part if you don't want one.

Thank you. I will give that a try. You make it look so easy. I think when I did mine I didn't bang the mold enough on the counter to get the top totally flat.

This is what I do. I make the first layer with one batch of soap. I don't gel at this point and let it get hard enough to support another layer. I make another soap batch and pour gently over the bottom layer, then gel the whole thing
or
I wait til the next morning, make another batch, pour over the bottom layer, then let the whole thing completely gel.

Thanks soapbuddy. That makes sense. One question though. What would happen if I gelled first layer, then laid down my second layer and gelled again? I should explain. I CPOP my soap so I could do this in one day. Can soap take 2 gelling sessions in the oven even if one layer has already gelled?
