I'm sure that some part of my question has been answered in places, but I'm curious about storefront type packaging. I mean if you make and sell your cold process soaps and wrap them at 4-6 weeks after they cure.

1. Do they still "cure/shrink/get rid of water" still after this time?
2. Can they be wrapped and not go bad from not breathing when stored?
3. If you don't have a high turnover rate is it better to wrap when sold or just let them sit?

I have made a few batches and I'm wondering about wrapping my soaps. Not selling, but I'm looking into packaging ideas already. I was thinking of just wrapping in a pretty paper with a piece of twine around it. I will have a "tester" bar out for display-- to be touched, smelled, and otherwise man handled. But if I go to a craft show and start making soaps 1-2 months in advance and wrap them say two months after being cut. Am I safe to say that they can be wrapped and left to sit for a bit? Or should I just do a modified cigar band of sorts? Any help or ideas are welcome.

I am looking to sell my soaps, face masks, body scrubs to a high end clientele. Any ideas?

Thanks!
Ginger

1. Do they still "cure/shrink/get rid of water" still after this time? They can.
2. Can they be wrapped and not go bad from not breathing when stored? If it's wrapped in paper or in a box after a full cure they will be fine.
3. If you don't have a high turnover rate is it better to wrap when sold or just let them sit? Mine sit in large totes/crates nekkid til they are sold.

Just as long as your soaps can breathe, you can wrap them anytime after they cure.

This is probably a stupid question, but to ask further. After say a 5 week cure the soaps can be wrapped in paper. But if they are wrapped they can't breathe so they shouldn't be wrapped? Or it's after they cure they are good to wrap in paper?

Thank you! I just wanted to be sure. There are a few flea markets and trade shows where I live. I have put my name on the waiting list for next year, but talking to vendors they don't always call you with enough time to wrap everything. So the vendors suggested having things wrapped and ready in case they call on short notice. (These places are always packed and have a waiting list.)

After a proper cure, can soaps be wrapped in shrink wrap and be left in it before they are sold? I know it's best to wrap so they can breathe, but if I package for shrink wrapping and it sits in a store for awhile how long u til it is t good any more?

I still haven't completely decided on packaging and I watched how Katie from royalty soaps does her packaging. She shrink wraps it. I was just curious how long the soaps are good for if wrapped like this.

Thanks!

I don't shrink wrap my CP soaps any more; only MP. I found that the shrink wrapped soaps that sat on a store shelf still shrank a little bit, making the shrink wrap loose.

Irena, should the soap be stacked in the tote a certain way and should be there any gaps between the bars? Would you recommend having some kind of a divider between each layer like paper towel and should the lid be closed or open?

What about soap with different scents? How would you store those?

If I am going to a big market, where I can sometimes sell four times my usual amount of soap....I will wrap
( in paper) and put each different scent into cardboard boxes of say 30.

They can shrink a bit in their wrapping if only about four weeks old.
The rest of my soap usually stays unwrapped until I need it.

Thank you all for your ideas! I've found that I'm just going to just wrap in Kraft paper band with my info on it.
