Hello!! So excited to be on the forum!! Here's a question, I believe that I added an additional ounce of lye to my mix. I was using the BB beginners kit and instead of 3oz I added 4 of lye. I have made soap with my own recipe but screwed up the darn kit, go figure!!! How do I (a) figure out if the soap is lye heavy? Can I test it somehow, and (b) what can I do to fix it?

Run the original recipe through a lye calc. Then run it again with the extra lye added. How much superfat do you get? You can recalculate, rebatch and add more oil.

Thanks!! Looks like I might need about 8 more oz of oil to fix it. Can I fix it now or do I have to wait for it to cure?
