Teach Soap

Hello again, I made 2 batch of HP soap last Saturday. Superfat 0% and the other 5%. But these 2 batch have come too dry so the soap were cracking when cut.

When i cook it, actually the gelling wasn't full, the hard part was still there in the centre and I mix it. Because I feel it was too dry, I stop cooking, add color and mix again. But when I mix, that was when the soap crumble into tiny part, dry, and cannot tied together. That was the main reason it was cracking. Can't I add water as much as possible when it is felt too dry and cook it again? Or is there a guidance about water amount when it is come to hot process?

Why are you doing a 0% superfat? It will be extremely harsh and drying and yes, crumbly.

5 and 10% superfat for any soap whether CP or HP is best.
Depending how big of a batch you're making your soap should be cooked in 45 minutes to one hour.
Technically, you can glop the soap into your mold as soon as it's in full gel or looks like mashed potatoes or applesauce.
I use The Sage Lye calculator as it gives you a variance on water. I would not use more then the maximum recommended.
It will take that much longer for the soap to dry out.
