Hi,
Does anyone know how to make my soap last longer? I feel like mine lasts a reasonable amount of time, but a couple of people I have given it to said it disappeared really fast. I don't know if maybe they let it sit in water too long, or if it just didn't last very long. The recipes I have made so far have a hardness number of 40, 41 and 47 (from the soap calculator) Shouldn't they last longer the harder they are? Any suggestions?
Thank you

Did you tell them it needs to sit in a place to dry out between uses? I find a really good soap dish makes a huge difference.

That is what I think the problem must be because when I use soap from the same batch, mine lasts and theirs doesn't. I keep trying to make soap that is harder but then I give up conditioning. Gotta find the perfect balance.

I've had lots of surprise compliments that my soaps last so much longer than commercial soaps here, but then homemade soap is VERY rare.

Most DEF on the soap dish.

Have you considered working with a recipe containing a good percentage of nice tallow? You can get a nice, WHITE, long-lasting bar with a lovely creamy lather.

I don't use any animal products in mine.
Harder soap should last longer though, right? Do you know where yours falls in the soap calc numbers?
