Just made my very first batch of soap and I am waiting to see it tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.!! So exciting!! If all turns out well, I would like to try Tangerine EO in my cold process recipe. Anyone ever try it? If so, how did it turn out? I won't use orange as I heard it leaves no scent whatsoever :( that is sad news! That orange smell is so amazing!!

BB 10X orange works awesome in CP

Tangerine EO, from 3 different companies, at the HIGHEST useage rate...leaves NO scent at all once cured. Most citrus are hard to keep. if you mix it with something else, might have more luck, but nothing whatsoever

Tangerine tends to fade in CP soap.

I haven't been able to get a nice orange or tangerine to stick. I have a new loaf curing in which I used 1/2 synthetic fragrance oil, 1/4 orange EO, and 1/4 Tangerine EO. 1 week out and it doesn't smell as strong as I hoped, but it does have a nice orangey smell. We'll see how it does in a few more weeks, keeping my fingers crossed!

Maybe if you blended the tangerine top note w/ a base note it might anchor the scent. Esoteric Oils says Tangerine oil blends particularly well with bergamot, cinnamon, clary sage, clove, frankincense, lavender, nutmeg and neroli.

Cinnamon leaf is between a middle and a base and it's not too expensive for a 16 oz bottle. Maybe it will anchor the tangerine some if you don't use too much. Or you could use clove, but they're both skin irritants. Maybe it would be safer to mix some tangerine and lavender w/ some clary sage, which is a middle note and should help some. I made some grapefruit soap once and it smelled great at first but faded quick. Cp soaps w/ EOs are best consumed fresh at 6-10 weeks. They don't age like wine and the dag nab scent cost more than the actual soap!

Try anchoring the citrus scent with some Litsea.
