I made a batch of soap using lilac fo. I poured into a loaf mold and placed in the freezer overnight then left on the counter. I cut at 48 hours. it has now cured for 4 weeks and it is perfect. So what's the problem? I had a little extra batter and poured it in guest size molds. I put them in the fridge overnight and then on the counter with the loaf mold. They were fine when I put them on the shelf to cure but now 4 weeks into the cure they are very oily . No zap. The bars from the log mold are not oily. It's just the 2 small bars that were poured in individual molds. Any ideas why?

It's possible that the extras were from the bottom of the pot where not everything was emulsified.

Thanks for the reply Irena. Here is the strange part. The oil didn't appear until the soap was almost 4 weeks old. Now after several days the oil has disappeared. Maybe I just have soap grimlins playing an April fools joke on me.

That is a strange one. Is it humid where you are?

We actually had the furnace running so no it wasn't humid. Now we are having several days of severe weather and had 4 inches of rain yesterday morning. Will see if the oiliness comes back. Don't you love a good mystery?
