Ditto what Linda said. I know Sprouts carries it, but you'll pay for the convenience and the quality isn't as good as what you can get from a soap and cosmetics supplier like Bramble Berry. What you save in shipping goes right out the window (or rather, your wallet) when you purchase locally at a health food store. I'll occasionally see it at places like Walgreens or CVS in the hair care section for black hair. These sources are something to keep in mind if you're caught in a bind, but not something I'd use as a regular resource.
I've been caught short of castor oil in the past and turned to the local pharmacy for some of those little 2-ounce bottles they have in the laxative section. I don't know if they add something else to it (doesn't say so on the bottle) or if they don't use quality castor beans for pharmaceutical castor oil, but it's always thinner and less viscous than what you get from a soap supplier. It's OK when you're first starting out and getting used to the process, but I don't even like changing suppliers for any oils once I find one that I like. Quality can sometimes differ wildly from one supplier to another, and in any manufacturing process consistency is very important.
