Is there a way to tell if a pan is for sure stainless steel? My mom gave me an old pot that she got back when she and my dad got married (almost 50 years old). She is pretty sure it is stainless but the bottom is so worn I can't make out what the stamp says. It is a copper bottom pan. Are all copper bottom pans stainless?
Thanks!

If you're not sure, you can always heat your oils in the pot and then pour them in a plastic bucket to mix in your lye/water and blend into soap. (I make big batches in 5 GAL buckets all the time.)

Have you googled Revere Ware? If the handle matches the pics you find on the net, it could be stainless steel.

In general magnets don't stick to stainless steel, so you could try that. It is not 100% conclusive though. Do a google search and you can find info about it.

Thanks! I will do all of the above! It is a really good sized pan for the small batches I do so I hope it will work for me.
Hope you all have a good evening.
