Godd morning to all and happy to find you...
I have a question that I cannot find on google... I have seen that if you make a 100% olive oil cp soap, the soap calculators consider it an off balance in the properties soap (eg not hard at all, no later etc) but in reality when cured is a very hard soap. Here comes the question... If I make a soap with only Olive oil and one choice of oil eg. macadamia, she, babassu etc, in a small percent from the olive oil, lets say 5-10%, the soap calculator, still says that such a soap, is not hard, no lathering etc, will turn hard at the end as a pure olive oil soap? Are in general, soap calculators tools only to have in mind the proper NAOH amount and not significant when it comes to the recipe? Is there a % range to have in mind when using soft/hard oils ot sat/unsaturated?

Hope I made my question clear...
Thank you, Happy Soaping! :D

if you use another oil at 5-10% along with olive oil your soap will still be hard. The soap calculators are just guidelines when it comes to soap qualities. Sometimes a soap that sounds awful on the calculator will turn out to be a wonderful soap. I don't worry too much about the hardness if I'm using a lot of olive oil in my recipe. I look more at the conditioning and cleansing numbers. I want the cleansing number to be low and the conditioning number to be high. :D

Take the soap calc with a grain of salt. Olive oil doesn't look good there, but it makes a great soap.

Thank you sooooo much for making clear this to me.
Salt, always used within the proper amount per batch, does contradict with sensitive skin or other skins?

I would think salt is fine. I don't use salt, since my recipe is hard enough.
