Teach Soap

I recently made myself a recipe using soap calc. with these ingredients; Lard, olive oil, tallow, coconut oil, sunflower oil, castor oil. I am satisfied with the values in my bars but have a big problem with crumbly edges on batches that I do not gel. When gelled its good - a nice firm bar. Anyone out there know what can be causing this? I superfatted at 5% and do a small water discount - about 3% less.

Ungelled soap can get crumbly edges. If that's a problem for you, then gel.

I make this soap with 3 colors and use the funnel method to get the rounded layers in the bars. it looks great when it doesn't gel, so thats why I'm not gelling. Tried one gelled batch and didn't like the effect as much. Was wondering if adding some beeswax would help?

I use beeswax in every batch and I don't gel. Try it and see.
