Teach Soap

I use the same oil base for my regular soaps. I have 4 moulds and typically I will make 4 batches, using different EO's etc for the finished product. I typically melt all the oils together for the 4 different batches, then I mix my lye mixtures up individually. I need 500ml of distilled water and 250g of lye per batch. Would it be okay to mix 1 kg of lye with the 2lters of water and then pour out 25% of the liquid per batch rather than mix it up 4 times.

Theoretically, yes. There are people who do "masterbatching" - meaning they mix up a large quantity of their oils and a large quantity of lye water, and then portion it out for individual batches.

The main thing to remember is to keep your lye solution well sealed. If there is evaporation, the strength of your lye solution will change.

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

I am looking to a time saver method for my main soaps...I will try this weekend and see how it works, thanx for the feedback.
