I just put the #s into soap calc, and I about fell over!!! This bar may be the Everlasting Gobstopper of soaps!

And I know many don't put creedence to the INS number, but really....the conditioning score is waaaaay down there, in the teens, while the hardness is waaaaay up there, in the 70's, cleansing = 50's. Wouldn't your skin fall off?? :P

it's quite fabulous. I have several "break the rules" soaps that I do and LOVE.

I like looking at the numbers at soapcalc, but I dont put much store into the way it says the soap will come out. I much prefer to go by look and feel and performance......because if I went by the "numbers" on soap calc, some of my best recipes would have never been made!

try it.......just once. you're gonna love it. even if it's a one pound batch, just try it.....

I don't have much faith in the numbers except for superfatting. Yeah...my break the rules soap is colored with a crayola crayon. I learned to make it that way and have been doing it like that every since. It's one that I only make for the family and don't sell to pubic.

Honestly, aren't most crayons made from beeswax anyway? We've all been using this for years and never had a problem. I started using natural colorants after learning not to do that. I'll still collect all the green crayola's I can find for my "break the rules" soap though!!

if i'm not mistaken, crayons are made from a petroleum wax. or Paraffin. Beeswax wouldnt be very economic to make crayons with simply because of the price of the beewax........and crayons are mighty mighty cheap for them to be made with beeswax I think.......

lemme go google it. you have my curious now!!!

omg! i love this site!!! it's paraffin.......scroll down to under the video box. i can watch videos like this all day......we love watching How It's Made and a few other shows similar to that...... anyway......here's the link!

I've been gone for quite some time, but are you referencing a specific recipe? or just random obscure recipes that people experiment with?

I just read the recipe. Is it necessary to hold the cocoa butter for 20 minutes? Does it have to do with graininess?

Yes - melting cocoa butter is a little tricky. If you do it too quickly it will get grainy. There is more info here; http://www.brambleberry.com/oils.html
