My daughter purchased an $8.00 (!!) bar of soap from a boutique. It was fabulous as a scrub. It appears to have a very fine sand used as an ingredient. These "sandy" areas were in chunks surrounded by a "soapier" area. I'd like to reproduce the effect. Is there a sand sold just for this purpose? I live near beaches touted to have some of the finest sand. Could I try to sterilzee this stuff? I'm still thinking beach sand, no matter how fine, is still too course. Thoughts?

Could it have been pumice stone? was it grey?
Or maybe salt?
Did the ingredients list say sand?

If I were to add sand, I would purchase some fine "Silica" sand ..........
