I need help from you wonderful soapers, please.

I am going thru that stage in life called "Mental Pause" and so named for good reason.

Feeling no more foggy than normal yesterday, I attempted to make a batch of soap, but it was actually a botch of soap. I'm not even sure *exactly* what mistakes I made, but I flocked it.

I was *trying* to make a batch of AM's 8% beeswax soap, with a total oil weight at 24 oz. So it *should* have looked like:
1.92 oz Beeswax
8.88 oz Olive Oil
6.72 oz Palm Kernel Flakes
1.20 oz Castor Oil
5.28 oz Coconut Oil
9.12 oz H20
3.46 oz Lye
2 Tbsp. Honey
SF @ 5%
Per Soap Calc

I soaped *just* hot enough to keep the wax from re-solidifying @ about 110 F, and I noticed it took a while to trace. But I didn't think about it. I've had soap seize due to fragrance, and I've accidentally overcooked soap, so I just thought, "Oh, well. That's what a slow moving soap looks like." Duh. It was about the consistency of a pretty solid Jell-O this morning, with absolutely no zap.

I kept thinking about it. And realized Soap Gremlins *like* Mental Pause. You won't realize they've come to play until it's too [bleep] late. Add Bifocals to the equation, and it's PARTY TIME !!

Here's what I *think* I did:
1.92 oz Beeswax
8.88 oz Olive Oil
6.72 oz Palm Kernel Flakes
8.88 oz Castor Oil
24 oz Coconut Oil
Lye and Water the same. I may have added 8.88 oz of Palm Kernel Flakes, I just don't know. Honey the same.

I even stopped and considered: For a supposedly 8% beeswax recipe, that seemed like a small amount to go with 24 oz CO. And I read it over twice more, repeating the mistake. Grrrrr.

Is there any way to save this goo? I don't trust myself with a Lye Calculator at this point, as my math is . . . meh . . . on a good day. I hate to throw the slop out if I can salvage it for laundry/travel/not for public consumption soap. Can I throw it in my CP with some lye/water? How much? Should I just pour wine and forget it until next week?

Thanks for the help!

Here is what your recipe looks like.

Castor Oil 8.88oz. 17.62%
Coconut Oil 24oz. 47.62%
Olive Oil 8.88oz. 17.62%
Palm Kernel Oil 6.72oz 13.33%
Beeswax 1.92oz. 3.81%
Total Weight 50.4oz.

For that size batch, you would need 13 to 19 ozs. of water or milk and 7.6 ozs. of lye for a 5% superfat. I normally superfat at 7-8% so the lye amount for me would be 7.4 ozs.
You have 17% castor. That's a lot. I don't go above 5%.

Thanks, Irena! Really! Yeah, I know the Castor is super high. That's why I wasn't even sure it was redeemable. Do I need to add OTHER fats, and then even more lye and water to save it? Or just pitch it?

I appreciate you doing the math. Obviously, it's beyond me right now.

You're welcome. You don't have to pitch it. Use it for cleaning around the house.
