Teach Soap

Question with several parts:

1) How do EOs, such as Peppermint, Spearmint, Wintergreen, Eucalyptus and Camphor affect trace?

2) Is there a recommended usage rate for this genre of EO if I am hoping to achieve a strong fragrance?

3) What anchors would be recommended?

Wintergreen is not advisable in soap. Mints are normally used at 0.5 to 0.6 PPO. They need no anchor.

I was not aware about Wintergreen not being advisable to use. Why is that?

Wintergreen is a strong skin irritant due to the active phytochemical called methyl Salicylate. Wintergreen oil should never be used on children, anyone taking a drug called Coumadin or any woman who is or might be pregnant. This is one of the few essential oils that can potentially build up in your system and cause severe side effects or poisoning. Now, with that said, some commercial products do use Wintergreen oil, but it's a synthetic version.
