How do we do this?

I use a stainless steel saucepan to mix my lye solution. After pouring the lye into the oils, I place the pan directly into the sink and fill it with water from the tap. During clean up, I wash it with soap and water. Hope that answers your question.

I only rinse my lye pitcher with water. I found using soap inside my pitcher caused little floaties for my next batch. Since mine is only used for lye, water is sufficient to clean it. My soap pot gets cleaned with hot water and cheap liquid soap from the Dollar store along with any utensils. I don't wait til the next day as I usually need to use it again.

I put my lye pots under the tap and run cold water in them for 2 or 3 minutes. I never use soap in them because I've had the little floaty bits Irena mentioned.

I always wait at least three days for the saponification to finish. I read in my instructions from soapinar.com that if u wash out the pot too soon after using lye then the uncured fats can get stuck in the drain
