I have noticed a few soapmakers have been adding silk to their Lye water
Is this silk from silkworms?
Does it make a difference in soap?

It makes the soap more "silky". Yes, it's from silkworms. You need very little. About a pea size for a 1 lb. batch.

I notice people are using Tussa Silk - Could I possibly use the silk from the silkworms my son gets from school that eat Mulberry leaves?
Perhaps its just easier to buy online - do you have any recommendations for a supplier?

I use Tussah Silk for some of my recipes. It does make for a nice creamy lather. It will accelerate trace also, so be careful what fragrances you use, I try not to use the ones that are known to accelerate trace or the double whammy will have the soap set before it hits the mold!
