Well depending on the fragrance I cover mine with a cardboard box and then a towel if it isn't a heater.
If the fragrance heats or I've added honey another heater, I don't insulate.
If the soap fragrance heats up the soap quite a bit I just leave the mold at room temp and blow a fan on the mold.
Here is California if I used a heating pad it would mean that my soap is curing in a 32 degree garage. That would be the only reason for me to use a heating pad.
