Teach Soap

I have the BB 4 lb. wood mold and I'm not sure how much I should insulate it? One towel, two? I've read that some people use a heating pad to get it going... I'm just starting CP and still learning. Thanks!

I can give you my limited experience since I'm new to this also. I also have wood molds and the batches I've made so far have turned out quite good. After pouring into the mold and taping out any air I set the mold on top of 1 towel and cover it with another and wait the 24 hours. Learning is as much fun as mixing and pouring.

Well depending on the fragrance I cover mine with a cardboard box and then a towel if it isn't a heater.

If the fragrance heats or I've added honey another heater, I don't insulate.

If the soap fragrance heats up the soap quite a bit I just leave the mold at room temp and blow a fan on the mold.

Here is California if I used a heating pad it would mean that my soap is curing in a 32 degree garage. That would be the only reason for me to use a heating pad.

Thank you so much! You have all been a tremendous help. I am in California also, and soaping in my garage, but it is still 70 degrees outside. I'm not using milk or honey nor a spice FO so I'll try leaving it uninsulated and see what happens. Thanks again!
