So, I've only made two batches so far and since they have been purely for myself, I haven't worried too much about how they look after being cut. However, I would like to sell them along with my M & P soaps and would like to know how some of you make your bars look so nice. Is it the mold that you use, your method of cutting, etc.? Thanks!

I use a wooden mold along with a soap cutter, so my bars weigh the same. Much easier for labeling purposes.
What kind of a mold are you using now?

Heavenly Scent Soaps

I use a wooden mold also and then my husband measures and cuts each bar. But, I'm thinking of investing in a soap cutter, too.

After the soap has cured for a week or two, I use a soap beveler to trim the sides and edges (and tops, if necessary).

Once the soap has fully cured, I shrink-wrap each bar in breathable polyolyfin and then label it. Some people may not like to use polyolyfin, but it really bugs me when people put their fingers (and noses!!) all over my soap!

Definitely get a soap cutter. It's one of the best investments I've ever made!

I just got a soap cutter and I LOVE it. I use some plastic molds that are really plastic loaf something or others that I got from the $ Store for - wait for it - yup a $. These are 3 1/4"W x 2 1/2" high and 8"L so they are perfect for fitting into my cutter. I also use some milky way molds which I absolutely love!

I checked out your website and your MP is absolutely gorgeous, I'm looking forward to seeing your CP.

I find that often when I use my soap cutter, I cut on a "slant" Can't seem to cut straight down for some reason. Molds are a great help, but sometimes my soaps are too wide to use one. Can anyone offer any suggestions?
