Teach Soap

I picked up a 3" x 2ft PVC round pipe with 2 end caps this weekend. I made a batch of soap and poured it in. I didn't use a liner. I let you know how it goes getting it out in few days. I have my fingers crossed.

Mine took so long to get free of the pipe that I forgot about it! Still required a little elbow grease after 3 months or so in the pipe!

Did you grease the mold? I hate hate hate liners. I grease my pipe mold with mineral oil.

No I did not use anything in the mold. I put it in our deep freezer for about an hour. Took both caps off. Dropped onto the carpet from about 2 feet. That got it loose. Then with the hubbies help. I held the mold and grabbed the soap as he pushed it out. With what did I use to push it out you ask? A piece of wood cut to fit in the mold and the handle from a sledge hammer. Came right out no problem.

Your dropping it to get it started was a recent trick I saw on YouTube. Drop it on the side with space space between the soap and the end of the PVC pipe. On the video, it worked like a charm.

I've heard that you can get a PVC length that is one size smaller than the one you used for your mold, put some end caps on it and use that to push out the soap...has anyone tried that? I've been wanting to try some shaving soap with a length of PVC I picked up, but I keep finding excuses to make loafs instead. Cuz I'm a big chicken.
