Teach Soap

I recently made a batch of cold process soap. When I cut it I got the cuttings "off" in weird shapes. I want to remelt it like you would a melt and pour soap. Has anyone tried this? Does this work? I would think it would as melt and pour is a base that has already gone through the cold process way. Thoughts, sugesstions welcome! Thanks!

That's called rebatching, although it won't become fluid again. It will be more like mashed potato consistency.

It is not the same, but you can rebatch it. It won't come out as neat as the first time, it is more rustic, like a hp soap. It gets, as Genny said, mash potato like and is a bit clumpy and lumpy. You have to spoon it into your mold and knock hard to get the air pockets out.

Can you rebatch soap that didn't turn out, meaning, is super soft and crumbly, reminds me of soft shea butter and it smears onto my skin like shea butter, but this batch has no shea butter. I have never had this happen before...is this what soap does when it doesn't gel? Can I crumble this all up and put it in a mold in the oven...will that make it hard?

If all your calculations were correct, you ran you recipe through a lye calculator, have an accurate scale and superfatted the soap, then yes; go ahead and rebatch.
