First of all, sorry if this is not posted in the correct section, but I do not know where to post about this.
Now, I am on my second (maybe failed) batch of liquid soap. I do not have a lot of patience, so this was probably a bad idea to begin with. I have been cooking this batch of soap paste for over 4 hours now and it's barely (and I do mean barely) turning translucent. Here is the recipe I used:
olive oil - 20 oz coconut oil - 4 oz castor oil - 1 oz potassium hydroxide 5.27 oz water 15.8 oz
I went about stick blending and all that jazz. It went well and everything seemed great, but I have been stuck at a consistency of "watery mashed potatoes" for hours now and it doesn't seem to be progressing to the translucent stage. Should I just throw this batch away? I have my crock pot on high right now, but it was on low almost the whole time. The soap temp was the same on both high and low settings (about 160). I don't know how that could be.
Maybe I should just give it up? I don't know what the problem is. Any input would be really appreciated.
