Is tallow the same as lard? :?:

Both are animal fats, but lard is from pork and tallow is from beef.

There are soapmakers who, for various reasons, use only vegetable oils. Others prefer to use animal fats. Here's a link to an article that defends using animal fats in cold-process soap making: http://www.examiner.com/article/in-defe ... ocess-soap
