Ok so I've been reading up on soaping and looking through recipes for my 2nd batch of cp soap.
I've been looking at the recipes on soapnuts website and I was wondering if you run a recipe through BB's lye calculator, do you always go by that amount no matter what the recipe says? Or will you follow the recipe if the amounts are close.
I'm guessing maybe the difference has to do with superfatting???

The lye difference depends on the lye calculator they used and the one you use, the superfat % used, and/or how well they type and/or know their stuff. Each oil has a range and not every calculator uses the same beginning number. This can make small differences in the number. The sf is self explanatory and is also usually just a small number, and sometimes the recipe is just wrong. You need to choose the calculator you want to use and stick with what it says, or try a couple and see what the difference is and decide from there. But ALWAYS go with the lye calculator and NOT the recipe, it makes your soap more consistent.
