Teach Soap

I have to make soap for my uncle because he made me a new soap mold. Which is awesome because it goes from 1lb to 6lb. Well he says lemongrass smells like fish. So I want to make a small batch but not have to send for scents. Can I use scents from hobby lobby for cold process soap?

If your hobby lobby has "crafty bubbles" brand EO's, you can use those. They are a dba for a company that I used to buy directly from. I would not use their FO's though, as they don't even know what their own usage rate is! Lol Generally speaking, the scents found in most hobby stores are not the quality needed to use in your products.You will get better results, which in the end will save you time and money, if you buy from a reliable supplier.

Most of their scents are made for glycerin soap, not cold process. They are also not a very good quality.

I actually think that most of their FO's were purchased for candles, and they just lucked into some that were bath and body safe. They began as a craft and candle company, then they branched into bath and body for a bit, and now have backed off the b&b again. They have closed all but their home store, and have quit carrying a large portion of their EO's, but they have maintained, if not increased their candle supplies. I never tried their FO's, so I really can't speak to their quality, but their EO's were fine. But I asked once how much of their FO I would use in a 5lb batch of soap and they had no idea. Since I was talking to an owner of the company, I didn't take that as a good sign! Lol
I have to tell you, back some years ago they had jasmine absolute to die for! Of course that was when they had a store open in my city and I could go in and smell for myself before deciding. Ah, those were the days!

I think you are much better off with BB, I really do! So great choice!
And they have not had their jasmine absolute in years. It is terribly expensive, so I understood when they dropped it (long before they were in HL), I just hated that I didn't know until after the fact, I would have love to has stocked up. Times change, and I guess they had to as well, but I enjoyed being able to go in and pick up what I needed. Their home store is too far for me to go now and I would never buy the hiked price one from HL.
In fact, if you are purchasing a large amount of EO's or FO's, so you can make soap regularly, or even if not regularly, just consistently, I think you are much better off buying from a soap supplier. You often end up getting a better price in the end, even with shipping, and the quality is more consistent too.
