Teach Soap

Hello again,

I'm wanting to give pencil lining a shot. I know you can use Cocoa Powder and Mica's but can you use clays or oxides? I understand you can't use too mcuh or the top layer wont stick properly.

You can pretty much use any herb/powder.

I suggest that you look at this blog post AM did about colorants http://www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body- ... colorants/ It clearly explains the various colorants used in soaping and cosmetics. This way you can decide what you think is most appropriate for your use.

I use charcoal, clays and herbs to line all the time. They look great. In fact, one of the ones I have always like the best was a calendula line (I powdered it) in a soft creme color soap. I put it about 3/4 to 1/2 from the top. It just fit, accented the soap in the right way. It was simple, yet classy looking. Point being, anything can look great, it just depends on the soap. Sometimes it is a high contrast that makes it pop and look great, and other times it is the coordination of the colors, or the slight variation in color that highlights the soap and makes it pop just right. Experiment, have fun trying different combinations and different ingredients!

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

Besides, you can always rebatch your uglies and sometimes the rebatch is just gorgeous! Ask me how I know (5500 bars of soap later)
