Does anyone know where I can get the nice boars hair shaving brushes that Therapy Garden used to carry?

Boars hair? I thought it was badger hair brushes that were big with the shavers? No matter, I don't know about those particular brushes, but I did get some nice brushes on amazon a while back. You may want to take a peek there and see what you can find.

I am a wetshaver myself and have been for years. I use a brush and either a straight razor or a double-edge safety razor depending on the day. Both badger & boar brushes are used by shavers - often times badger is seen as "better" or more luxurious, but this is all personal opinion. I prefer boar hair brushes myself.

You can find them in a lot of places. If you are looking as a gift for someone, I would direct you to westcoastshaving.com - the owner is very friendly, they have a good selections, good prices, and great customer support.

Cottonblossomcrafts.com carry basic boar brushes as well. I'd go with westcoastshaving if you are looking for quality and a selection to choose from. You can even call John and speak to him for his input if you are unsure of what to buy.

Best of luck!

I bought the six pack of the boar bristle brushes from Cotton. Save your money. My wet shaver customers tell me that the resin wears off over time and the glued bristles loosen and fall out. I'm still on the lookout for wholesale wet shaving brushes that are reasonably priced and last. WestCoast has a shaving brush as low as $7.50, but I haven't tried that one. I wet shave myself and I prefer synthetic bristles. I can smell the boar, even with a well used brush as soon as it gets wet.

Thanks razorburn,I will check out these places. I make a Bay Rum shaving soap, I put in into different decorative mugs and attach the brush as part of my bath and body line so I need to buy wholesale. Soapbuddy I have seen those brushes and the price is just to high to pass on to a customer imo,but thanks for your input.

I bought some boar hair brushes from aceshaving on eBay for $5.38 each incl shipping. They look fine, but I have no idea how good they are or how long they last because I haven't used one yet. They have the more expensive "badger" hair coloring even though they are boars hair.

A good quality brush is expensive, so I'm doubtful that these brushes are anything special.

This thread is a good reminder that I need to cook up some shaving soap.

I was wondering why you need brushes to shave. Can't you lather up with hands like girls do for our legs

Having gotten a 3 page essay on all things shaving when I asked this same question, I could have responded, but I KNEW that a person with the avatar name of "Razorburne" would be able to answer directly from experience! Great job Razor!
