So, as my topic title indicated, I'm interested in trying spinach powder for a natural green. I personally think that naturally-sourced green is very tough to achieve (or if you do achieve green it almost always turns brown eventually).

If I use spinach powder will it end up green--to some degree?
If yes, then what kind of green does spinach powder produce?
And no, I don't like spirulina (I don't like the smell). :)

Thanks in advance!!

Sarah

I do not know much about spinach powder, but it sounds worth a try. I remember seeing something on it a good while ago, but the user didn't ever report back about longevity of the color. ETA: I do use tomato powder and it works well, so I would think this would too.
I can tell you that I do love nettle powder. It gives a wonderful, pretty shade of green, almost a lime color that does stay. You can infuse it into oil or you can just add it in the powder form at trace. I have used it plain and mixed with spirulina to give a deeper green with less of the odor (although the odor doesn't bother me).
Have fun experimenting and do show pics and tell us how it lasts!

Oh, nettle! I forgot about nettle. I have some dried and chopped nettle. I'll run it through the food mill three or four times and try that!

I'll try the spinach powder with it.

Thanks!!!!
