Last time I ordered bulk oils I purchased hydrogenated palm oil, but it was much cooler temp-wise then :). I'm almost out and want to order more, but am concerned about it being a complete mess and losing the oil. (Ordering from Soaper's Choice....they have a disclaimer saying they are not responsible for damaged/melted items due to the weather.) I thought about just getting the "regular" palm, but I got spoiled by the ease of not having to remelt the hydrogenated every time I wanted to use palm :D.
Has anyone ordered this before in the summer? If so, what was your experience?

My hydrogenated palm arrived from soaper's choice about 2 weeks ago. We were having a hot spell but there were no problems at all. Love the hydrogenated palm! :D

Wait, So if you get "hydrogenated palm oil", you don't have to melt it down/mix it every time you want to use it? How convenient!

What is the name they have it listed under on the Soapers Choice website?
Is it the Palm Kernel Oil Flakes?


Also, on the BB Lye calculator, is it entered as regular palm oil?

Beezy it's not the flakes. Palm Kernel and palm are two different things. It should say hydrogenated palm oil. The SAP value is the same as regular palm oil.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but is this hydrogenated palm the same thing as the palm shortening at Smart & Final? In the interest of not wanting to pay shipping, I went to Smart &Final today to see what they had in stock. I didn't buy it because I wasn't sure if it was the same as palm oil, if it would behave the same, and how I would melt 50 lbs at once. If this is the same thing, I could buy it and not melt it all to mix it up?

I'm not sure what's in their palm shortening besides palm oil but it probably contains soybean oil. The hydrogenated palm oil is just palm oil that has been, well, hydrogenated.
