Hi,

I'm very new here. Though I've made some posts, I've never created a batch of soap and I feel ready now. Yay!
I know all about lye and it's dangers and information on equipment. The only thing is that I wanted a basic recipe to start with and I can't seem to find one. I live in a small village and the main ingredients I can get my hands on are olive oil, sunflower oil, vegetable oil. Can I actually create a batch with just these? Of course,I have my caustic soda too. Can someone help me out with quantities here please? I'm sorry if I sound dumb, but I am a novice. Thanks everyone!

You absolutely can create a batch of soap with just those.
Something like:
60% Olive Oil
25% Vegetable Oil
15% Sunflower Oil

and welcome to the forum :)

Thanks Genny! That's great to know:)
I have two questions and hope you don't mind:
1-how much lye and how much water do I need?
2-how can I convert those percentages into ounces/grams?
Thanks once more! X

For both of those questions, I'm going to send you to http://soapcalc.net

It's a lye calculator. I suggest reading through the "How To Use Soapcalc" section on there first.
