Difference between SoapCalc & BrambleBerry lye calculators?

I've noticed that running the same recipe through both SoapCalc & BrambleBerry's lye calculator gives different lye & water measurements......any concerns with this?

What calculator do you use/recommend? Any reason why?

After running a recipe the SoapCalc calculator, they provide suggested ranges for various soap bar qualities, which seems like a great idea, so you know where your own original recipe might be off.

Before BrambleBerry came up with their lye calc, I use The Sage lye calc. They differ because the SAP value of oils is only a range and that range varies slightly from season to season.

I always used Soapcalc until I bought the Soapmaker program. IMHO, it's better if you find a calculator that you like and stick with just that one rather than using a bunch of different ones.

Like Irena I also started by using the Sage calculator. The main difference it seemed to me, was that the amount of water specified is a fair bit less than soapcalc.

Brambleberry is a standard 33% lye, whilst soap calc defaults to 38% but can be changed. This feature is great, especially if doing a water discount.
