Hi, This is my first post. I don't know why I waited so long! All of you soapers are so terrific!
Well I made a 5 lb batch of CP soap using only eucalyptus eo. 2.5 oz (70 gm). Smelled up the whole darn house with it for days. 4 weeks now and it smells more like fresh linen...definitely NOT eucalyptus. I know I made the mistake of soaping above the flashpoint. I mixed at 130 degrees. Would that be what went wrong? Or do I have to anchor it with another eo/fo? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ginny

Welcome!
Where did the essential oil come from? I use mine at about the same rate and it's pretty strong after curing. I soap at around 110 degrees (US). IMO eucalyptus needs no anchor.

Irena!
Thanks for your reply. I have read and learned so much from your posts. The eo came from brambleberry and is new. I will try another (smaller!) batch and soap under the 200 degree flashpoint and let you know what happens. I never had any problems with this eo in M&P or scrubs. My cp recipe is not new either & has behaved beautifully with other eo's & fo's.
Anything else I could be missing?
Thanks for the warm welcome.

You're welcome. MP and scrubs do not saponify, so they don't change the essential oil. Try 0.7 oz. of EO per lb. of soap and see if that makes a difference. I would not go higher with eucalyptus.
