I've tried using bb labcolors twice now in my cp soap and I keep getting a weird crackly affect where the colored soap is, although the second batch did turn out better. It kind of looks like translucent soap cracks through the colored soap.

I diulted and preserved the labcolors following bb instructions.

On batch one I only used 40ml of colorant and on batch two I used 1-1/2 oz.

I have the high ph labcolors.

I made sure to stir the color in really well. Especially the second time cause I thought maybe that's why I got the crackly affect the first time.

My soap is 50% Olive Oil (grade A) with the rest being a mix of coconut, palm, castor and stearic acid.

Both batches were scented with the same Peppermint FO.

Any info you could give me would be appreciated. Sorry if the pics are hard to see I had to make them small so the site would let me add them to this post. If there's a better way to add the pics so they are larger if you let me know how I'd be happy to reload them. Thanks!

Is there any titanium dioxide in your colors? I get the crackling effect if the color contains titanium dioxide AND if the soap gels. If it doesn't gel, I don't get the crackly effect. Try to not gel and see if that makes a difference.

That could totally be it! I always gel and actually that first batch was CPOP so I'm sure it gelled. And I did use TD too. Is TD and Labcolors always a no-no or only if you gel?

Thanks so much for you help by the way.

Most TD will crackle if the soap gels. Mine always does. I bet your LabColors are fine. It's the TD that's doing the crackle.

Yep, your labcolours are fine :D Definately the TD! Mine always does it if I gel.

My current rule is 'use TD, don't gel' although I have a soap I deliberately do this to
