Teach Soap

I made a batch today, divided it, to add different FO in each 1/2
molded them in old pringles cans (bottom removed and plastic lid attached to the bottom.

One batch was fine, the other split wide open and was on the verge of volcano within the time it took to just clean up my work space. So, I grabbed my pot dumped the batch in, heated and stirred a little, then remolded it in a loaf mold.

Will this be okay when it hardens up and cools? or should I count this 1/2 of the batch as a loss?

Errrm... do Pringles cans have aluminium liner?

They have a plastic coating on the inside, I removed the bottom piece that isn't coated. I've made several batches with them and always remove the bottom of the can, this is the only one I had an issue with.

Pringles cans look like a foil liner but that is coated with a plastic film. When I used them it turned out great!

I believe one of the members here (I think it was here) actually emailed who ever makes the Pringles can and it is in fact Aluminium inside, that plastic liner won't protect it. For a couple of dollars you can pick up PVC pipe from your local hardware or plumbing store and that's much safer and reusable. Plus, no calories.

I have a BB column mold that I need to break in. I was just using up the stuff in my recycle stash. I thought if I just cut the bottom piece out I would be fine. But I guess it's not worth ruining a batch of soap over.

I unmolded this batch this morning and it is firm and unmolded easy, cut nicely and smells yummy. I'll have hubby zap test it in a couple days (he's my PH tester, lol)

Pringles company says the foil in the can is aluminum with a thin plastic coating. I don't know what type of plastic because they wouldn't say. You can get a 3 foot long 3" wide pvc pipe from Lowes for ~$5. They will cut it in 1/2 for you too, so you get 2 molds! Plus around 57 cents each for end caps.
