Hi everyone,

Tonight I made a bastile castile soap using coconut and olive oils and puree avocado-lye mixture. As I was mixing the ingredients together I started to panic because I didn't notice any trace after ten minutes, is it normal for trace this takes awhile to form for bastile? It eventually traced and everything went well, but it scared me. Now, my stick blender has overheated.

I'm assuming it was high in olive oil, if so, yes they take a long time to trace.
Many times when I'm making my castile soaps, I stir it, stick blend, stir it, stick blend, stir it, stick blend, walk away for 15 minutes, stir it, stick blend, stir it, stick blend, etc. Sometimes I have to walk away for another 10 minutes and come back and stir & stick blend again for a while.

phew, thank you for the information, Genny. It was my first time making castile soap and didn't know what to expect. Yes, I used a high percentage of olive oil. Now, I know what to expect the next time I make it.

Happy Holidays!!
