I hate lining molds too! I need to try some of these ideas. Is everyone still happy with these reusable liners?

SoapbabySoap, I am wondering if the liners will stay in place one you pour, so I am anxiously awaiting your test pour! Please be sure to let us know how you like it!

Bubbybaby; Welcome to the forum! So far the propalyne or whatever its called (a couple of pages back), from home depot or lowes is looking like the front runner! We need to wait on SoapBabySoap's report for the cooking sheet as a liner. These wonderful people are keeping me from spending extra money by testing and reporting back their experiences! Thank you guys!

I tried the method of cutting out the polypropolene and lining with that, it worked great!

Well, I made a batch and poured and the mold liner stayed in place really well. We will see how it turned out tomorrow.

Heres a picture.

SoapbabySoap I have also tried using silicon as a liner the same way you have but have gone one step further and tried gluing the strips in place. I used a Selleys glue "Kwik Grip" which was only reasonably successful. Three of the four walls stayed glued while the other one came off. My husband made my wooden mold so that it unscrews and comes apart. I didn't glue the base silicon down though. Perhaps someone knows of a better way of glueing the silicon strips to wood. Is there a special type of glue? Otherwise I am really pleased with the lining and it gives the soap a really nice smooth finish.

I'm VERY pleased to hear that the Polypropylene is working out for some of you. It def takes the hassle out of soap mold lining. I still have nightmares about lining with paper and leakage and cutting it wrong and all that! ;)

I don't spray mine with anything, though I don't think it would hurt if you did just to be safe. The Polypropylene is by far the best solution I've found for lining. It can even be used in cpop method as it has a very high melt point, much higher then anything required in an oven pour method. Again, it's cheap stuff so it's well worth trying out.

Just my 2 cents...I used to work at Home Depot, Im fairly certain you wont be able to glue the silicone to the wood or anything else for that matter, silicone only sticks to silicone. You might be able to buy some liquid silicone, and spread it thinly on the wood, then stick your silicone mats on that and get some adhesion.

Hi Joatmon, thanks for that. I rang the supplier of the silicon and asked what they suggest I use and they didn't know either, but did suggest a "Loctite" product might be the best option. I have written to Loctite for information but so far no reply. Someone else suggested that Silicone can be heat welded so wonder if a glue gun might work. Any other suggestions?

Love the ideas I'm getting but I'm certain the Mr will insist I use up the 2.5 mile roll of freezer paper he ordered me before agreeing to a home depot trip.
No worries though, I'm one of what appears to be the very few who actually do enjoy lining the molds. : )

It has been suggested to me a Silastic adhesive would work so will try and find one and then try it out. Will advise when I have tested.
