Oh thank you for the explanation! I think we are loaded to the gills, but I still worry because if I mess something up I haven't a clue how to fix it. Seriously. I started computing on an IBM 360 mainframe sometime ago! My first personal computer had 360 killabites basically a typewritter with memory! LOL Unbelievable now that I think about it.

I still have my first computer somewhere.. and Apple IIC. Good old green pixel screen! The entire computer was part of the keyboard! Mine still works too

Hi Soapy Team,

I'm not exactly positive what is going on in this thread but want to just jump in and say that we all learned someplace and questions from new and experienced soapmakers are okay. In an ideal world, we would all be Google experts but sometimes, asking people who know more is simply the fastest and most reliable way to get a solid answer.

So, to add Shea to the recipe that the original poster asked about, I'd go like:

30% Coconut Oil
10% Rice Bran Oil (or SoyBean if that's all you have)
30% Olive Oil
25% Palm Oil
5% Shea

You'll have a hard bar with slightly smaller bubbles (since I decreased the Palm and upped the Olive and Shea) but at a 5% superfat or above, it should be a nice balance of moisture and bubbles.

I have only made one batch so far, but there is a great recipe in Anne L. Watson's book Smart Soapmaking, you can find in on Amazon.com.

Also a great shea butter recipe found in The Everything Soapmaking book by Alicia Grosso. It's a very informative and handy book!
